A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck

"A Year Down Yonder" is about Mary Alice living with her Grandma in the country during the Great Depression. It's a warm story with funny people and memorable moments. Richard Peck's writing shows what life was like back then and talks about family and being strong when things are tough. It won a big prize called the Newbery Medal, so "A Year Down Yonder" is a special book for people who want to read about a different time.
