Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman

After an accident leaves him unable to join the Viking warriors, Odd meets three mysterious animals who are actually Norse gods under a powerful spell. Together, they set out on a journey to defeat the Frost Giants and restore peace to Asgard. Along the way, Odd learns that courage, kindness, and clever thinking can be more powerful than strength.
